A wedding invitation video is now the main way most couples in India invite people. It reaches the whole list the same day, it costs nothing to send, and it gets forwarded to the cousins you forgot. What it does not do automatically is look like your wedding — and that is the part almost every cheap invite gets wrong.

There are two ways to get one made. The first is a template platform: you choose from a grid of existing designs, type your names into a form, and receive a video in minutes for a few hundred rupees. It is fast, it is inexpensive, and if that is what you need it is a perfectly sensible choice. The second is what we do — design the invitation for your wedding specifically, from a direction you pick, with your names typeset rather than filled in.

What you actually get from us

  • A design made for your wedding. You choose one of four design directions, and the invitation is drawn to that direction — palette, typography, pacing and ornament all decided for your wedding rather than inherited from a stock file.
  • Every function, one theme. Engagement, haldi, mehendi, sangeet, the wedding, the reception — each gets its own moment in the film, all held together by one visual language.
  • Both formats. A landscape or square cut for WhatsApp forwarding, and a 9:16 vertical version for Status, Reels and Stories, re-framed rather than cropped.
  • A written spelling check. Before final export we send every name, date and venue line as plain text for you to confirm.
  • Revisions until you approve. Not three rounds and then a surcharge.

Getting the length right

The most common mistake in invitation videos is length. Couples ask for ninety seconds because more feels like better value, then discover that relatives stop watching at forty. A main invitation covering several functions usually works best between forty-five and sixty seconds. A save-the-date should be much shorter — it has one message to deliver, and fifteen seconds delivers it.

Designing for the place it will be watched

Almost every guest will watch your invitation on a phone, in a WhatsApp thread, at low volume, possibly muted. That has real design consequences, and it is why a design that looked beautiful on a designer's monitor can land badly in a family group.

WhatsApp compresses video hard. Fine gold filigree and thin serif hairlines turn into mush; low-contrast text on a busy background disappears entirely. We test every invite at phone scale before we send the draft, and we build contrast in deliberately so the names survive compression. If your invite is going out mainly on WhatsApp, read our note on WhatsApp invitations specifically.

The music question

Most couples want a particular film song, and for an invitation shared privately with family that is normally how it works in practice. It is worth knowing the one risk: if you post the invitation publicly on Instagram or YouTube, automated rights systems can mute or restrict videos that use commercial film music. We will flag it when we think that risk is real, and we can suggest licence-cleared tracks that carry the same mood. The decision stays yours.

Languages

We typeset invitations in English, Hindi and Marathi, including mixed invitations where the names are set in Devanagari and the details in English. Regional-language work is not translation — it is typesetting, and it needs the right typeface and careful proofing. If your invitation is in Marathi, see the Marathi invitation page.

Timeline, honestly

Your first draft arrives within about 48 hours of us having your complete details and your chosen direction. "Complete" is the operative word — the clock starts when we have what we need, not when the conversation opens. After that, how fast you approve depends mostly on how quickly you send feedback. Most couples finish within two to four days end to end.

If your wedding is close, say so in the first message. We would rather tell you honestly that a date is too tight than take the work and disappoint you.

Wedding invitation videos, explained

What is a digital wedding invitation video?

It is a short video — usually between fifteen and ninety seconds — that carries the same information as a printed wedding card: the names, the functions, the dates and times, and the venue. Instead of being printed and posted, it is sent on WhatsApp or shared as a Status, Reel or Story.

The good ones are designed like stationery and paced like film. The weak ones are a template with text pasted in and a stock tune behind it.

How long should a wedding invitation video be?

For a main invitation covering several functions, forty-five to sixty seconds is usually right. Long enough to give every function its own moment, short enough that relatives watch to the end.

A save-the-date works better much shorter — fifteen to twenty seconds is plenty, because it carries one message.

Is a video invitation better than a printed card?

They do different jobs. A printed card is an object people keep, and for close family many couples still send one. A video reaches everyone the same day, costs nothing to distribute, and can be forwarded to people you would have missed.

Most couples we work with do both: printed cards for immediate family and elders, video for the wider list.

What information do you need to make one?

Both names spelled exactly as they should appear, every function with its date and time, the venue name and address as you want it printed, and the language you want.

If you want photographs used, send original files rather than images that have been forwarded through WhatsApp already — forwarded pictures are compressed and look soft in the final film.

How much does a wedding invitation video cost in India?

The market is wide. Template platforms publish rates from a few hundred rupees to around ₹1,500, and custom animation work commonly runs into several thousand depending on length and complexity.

We quote per project once we know the length, the number of functions and the design direction. See our price guide for what moves the number.
