Most digital invitation platforms treat Marathi as a font swap. You pick a template built for English, your Marathi text is pushed into the same boxes, and the result has awkward line breaks, matras clipped by the frame, and names set too small to read on a phone. If your family is going to read this invite, that is not good enough.

We treat regional-language work as typesetting rather than translation. That means choosing a typeface that actually supports Devanagari properly, planning the layout around the script's height and rhythm, and proofing every line with you before anything is exported.

Three ways Marathi families usually want it

  1. Fully in Marathi. Every line — names, family lines, function names, dates, venue and blessing — set in Devanagari. This suits a guest list that is largely local and family-centred.
  2. Marathi names, English details. The names and blessing carry more weight in Marathi; dates, times and the venue address are set in English so guests travelling from outside Maharashtra can read them without difficulty. This is the most requested version.
  3. Two separate invitations. One fully Marathi, one fully English, sharing the same design. Useful when the two halves of your list are genuinely different audiences.

The functions, in your family's words

We cover sakharpuda, halad, mehendi, sangeet, the vivah and the reception — and we use the names your family uses rather than a standard list. Some families say halad, some say haldi; some hold a separate kelvan. Tell us what you call each function and that is what appears on the invitation.

Each function can be given its own moment inside one film, or its own separate invitation sharing the same theme. For multi-day weddings the second approach usually works better, because each invitation can be sent closer to its own date.

The proofing step matters more in Devanagari

Before final export we send you every Marathi line as plain text to confirm. A single wrong matra changes a name, and once the invitation has gone into a family WhatsApp group it cannot be pulled back. This step takes you two minutes and it is not optional.

Designing Devanagari for a phone screen

Devanagari carries more detail per character than Latin script — the shirorekha, the matras above and below, the conjuncts. At small sizes on a compressed WhatsApp video, that detail is the first thing to break down.

So Marathi lines get set larger and heavier than the equivalent English would be, with more space above and below to let the matras breathe. Of our four design directions, traditional elegance and royal heritage carry Marathi most comfortably, because both are built around high-contrast type on a dark ground. Modern cinematic works too, but needs the letterspacing eased so conjuncts do not read as separate characters.

Where we are

The studio is in Jalgaon, Maharashtra, so Marathi weddings are the work we do most. Everything runs over WhatsApp, so whether your wedding is in Jalgaon, Pune, Nashik, Mumbai or outside the state makes no practical difference to how we work with you.

What it costs

A Marathi invitation is priced the same way as any other — by length, number of functions and animation depth. A second language in the same invitation adds a little, because every line has to be typeset and proofed again rather than translated. See the price guide for the full picture, or message us for a number.

Marathi invitations, answered

Do you make wedding invitation videos in Marathi?

Yes. We typeset invitations fully in Marathi, and we also make mixed invitations — names and blessings in Marathi, dates and venue in English — which is what a lot of families in Maharashtra actually want.

We confirm every Devanagari line with you as plain text before final export, because a wrong matra in a name is not something you can recall once the invite is forwarded.

Can you set names in Devanagari and details in English?

That is one of the most common requests we get, and it works well. The names, the family lines and any blessing carry more weight in Marathi; dates, times and venue addresses are often clearer in English, especially for guests travelling from outside the state.

The design has to be planned for it — two scripts have different heights and rhythms, so the layout is set up to hold both rather than squeezing one in later.

Which Marathi functions do you cover?

All of them. Sakharpuda, halad, mehendi, sangeet, the vivah itself, and the reception — each can get its own moment in the film or its own separate invitation card.

Tell us the function names as your family uses them. We use your words, not a generic list.

Will Marathi text look right on WhatsApp?

It will if it is designed for it. Devanagari has more detail per character than Latin script, so it suffers more from WhatsApp compression when set small or light.

We set Marathi lines with enough weight and size to survive compression, and we check the invite at phone scale before sending you the draft.
